Our Mission

Undocuhoosier’s mission is to serve the needs of undocumented and DACA-mented individuals at Indiana University, the Bloomington community, and the larger Southwest Indiana region. Our work falls broadly into three areas: education, fundraising, and activism.

Education: Our goal is to continue educating the community about current events/policies in our country that regard immigration in an effort to shed light to the issue and be a voice for undocumented and DACA-mented students.

Fundraising: It is unfortionate that not all students are supported financially to continue their education simply because of their immigration status. Thus, Undocuhoosiers makes it their goal every academic year to raise money by hosting various events to give out scholarships to students with DACA. The money we raise is also donated to undocumented community members applying for citizenship and/or who simply need financial assistance.

Activism: Everyone’s life is impacted by the decisions our president and congress members make in regard to immigration. Even more, people in our communities are affected by the cruel and negative terms given to undocumented individuals. As a result, Undocuhoosiers continously advocates to dismantle the legal framework that declares certain human beings as “illegal.”

We strive to create a welcoming space for all regardless of anyone’s immigration status, because at the end of the day we are a nation of immigrants.
